To date, Digicel operates in Samoa, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Fiji and Tonga. Several other countries in the Pacific have committed to grant licenses to Digicel in the near future.
Digicel Pacific is also a proud sponsor of several national rugby team across the Pacific including: Fiji Rugby, Digicel Fiji Sevens, Digicel Pacific Islanders Rugby Team and the Digicel Pukpuks.
On July 24th, 2007 Digicel’s launch in Papua New Guinea marked the end of a fifty year monopoly in the telecommunications market in Papua New Guinea. According to the Government's 2008 Budget presentation, Digicel has already contributed to 0.7% growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Papua New Guinea.
